Gerakan National Youth Chairman, Dato’ Mah Siew Keong urged UMNO President who is also the BN Chairman, YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to call for an emergency BN Supreme Council Meeting to discuss the merger between UMNO and PAS.

Gerakan Youth is very concern about the proposal by YAB Dato’ Haji Nik abdul Aziz Nik Mat Nik to merge UMNO and PAS. The merger should not be carried on because it would not benefit the people and will jeopardize the harmony of the Malaysian society.

Gerakan Youth has proposed to merge all the 14 BN component parties at its National Delegates’ Conference last October but was rejected by many component party leaders who cited it was not the right time to do so. Therefore, I urged YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to reconsider the merge between the 14 BN component parties instead of merging with PAS.

“The merge between 14 BN component parties into 1 BN multiracial party shall be treated as a move to unite the Malaysian society. A party that unites all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion will be a giant step towards Bangsa Malaysia.”

This the time for us to form a multiracial BN party as the results of the General Election, proved the needs for a single multiracial BN party.

Dato Mah Siew Keong,
Gerakan National Youth Chairman
